SAN PEDRO RIVER ARTS COUNCIL 9TH ANNUAL OPEN, JUDGED FINE ARTS SHOW & SALE                                                                                                                                                 

MARCH 2nd   through     MARCH 29th, 2018

Show location: Cochise College, Benson Center, 1025 S. Highway 90, Benson, Arizona 


DATES/SCHEDULE:    Saturday, February 24th    Entries due no later than this date—feel free to enter earlier!!  (by post or online)

                                     Wednesday, Feb. 28th     Receiving Paintings  (drop off at Cochise College Benson Center) 

                                                                              between 1 p.m and 6 p.m.

                                      Thursday, March 1st        Art work will be hung at the college.

                                      Friday, March 2nd           Show judged in the morning. Judge’s critique for interested artists beginning at 1:30 p.m.

                                                                              Show open to the public for viewing during regular college hours.  Show will hang through March 29th.

                                      Thursday, March 8th       Reception.  5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the college.  Everyone welcome!  Awards.  Refreshments.  Meet the artists.

                                      Thursday, March 29th      Show comes down.  Pick up artwork 1 p.m. till 6:00 p.m.


ELIGIBILITY:                Show is open to all artists working in a two-dimensional medium -excluding photography.

                                     (An exhibition for photographers only is scheduled for October, 2018.) 

                                     No work previously entered in a “Celebrate the Arts” exhibition is eligible for this show.


ENTRIES:                   Artists may submit up to three  --3--  works at this show.

                                    Notes   1.  Maximum size for each piece of art is 36" in either dimension, including frame.

                                                 2.  Management reserves the right to refuse any work deem  inappropriate for family viewing.


ENTRY FORMS AND FEES:    There are two ways to enter:

Regular mail—go to our website at or to a member to print out or obtain an entry form. 

Return the form with fees to SPRArts, P.O. Box 1358, Benson, AZ  85602.
Online—go to our website at and complete the on-line entry form and submit and pay online using our PayPal option.
DEADLINE for entries is NO LATER THAN Saturday, February 24th.     

Late entries will be accepted if there is space available and will be subject to a $5.00 late entry fee PER ITEM.

REGULAR ENTRY FEE  is $8.00 per item for Adult Arts Council Members.  FEE for Adult NON-MEMBERS is $10.00 per item.


Each piece of art must be framed or appropriately presented for its’ medium. 

All work must be strung with wire for hanging (bracket hangers are NOT acceptable).
We will not accept any art work not ready to hang.
Each painting must be clearly labeled on the back with Artist's name and Title of painting.

RECEIVING AND PICK UP:  All entries must be delivered and picked up at Cochise College Benson Center.   

                                               Drop off art work on Wednesday, Feb. 28th  between 1 and 6 p.m. 

                                               Collect paintings after the show on Thursday, March 29th between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

                                               Note!  All artwork shall hang for the duration of the show.  If you are unable to pick up your work on March 29th,

SECURITY/LIABILITY:        The San Pedro River Arts Council and Cochise College  Benson Center
                                             will exercise all reasonable precautions to prevent damage to, or loss of,

                                             art work; however, the artist must ultimately assume all risks for his work
                                             Artists are required to sign a liability waiver when making entries.


 SHOW DIVISIONS:           The show will be divided into four separate divisions.
                                            Artists will choose their division.  There will be no cross entries.

                                            YOUTH (UNDER 18)

                                             NOVICE  (for the beginning artists)


                                             ADVANCED/PROFESSIONAL  (You know who you are...)


AWARDS:                          Multiple 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded in each division at the judge's discretion. 

                                          "Best of Division" rosettes will be awarded along with a cash prize of $50.00 each. 

                                          "Best of Show" winner will receive a rosette and a $100.- cash prize.  

                                           Winner of the “People’s Choice” voting will receive a rosette and $50 Cash award.     


                                           Note: No cash awards in Youth Division

                                           Note:  The judge's decisions are FINAL!


SALES/COMMISSIONS:    Artists will set prices for their own work.  The San Pedro River Arts Council will act as Intermediary to connect buyers and sellers. 

                                            If the artist negotiates a sale, the Arts Council is due a 20% commission on that sale.  Price your work accordingly!
                                            Any work not for sale must be clearly marked NFS on the entry form.
