One With Art

The Arts Council has developed its “Art Around Town” project in order to give our members more venues in which to share and display their work. In getting our art “out there,” we hope to stimulate a greater awareness and appreciation of the visual arts within the community.

“One With Art” is the name of our monthly exhibition at Cochise College Benson Center.  The popularity of these exhibits is overwhelming.

Remember, any SPRAC member may have your own “one (or two) person” show at the college –photography, mixed media, fine art, whatever–so if you think you might be interested, check our website (www.sprarts.org) under the Art Around Town Banner, select an open month, and contact Linda Stacey to get on our calendar.  It’s a great way to get more exposure for your work, and for the Arts Council as well!!

For the viewing public, the calendar belowshows you who is exhibiting.  Perhaps you have a favorite artist and want to be certain to see his or her exhibit.  You can check here for times the exhibit is open and directions to Cochise College.  Most of the original art on display is for sale.

For our member artists, you can check what months are available for a reservation.  Remember, an artist may exhibit once per twelve month period.  You can reserve a month by clicking here to send an email.  Shows are normally changed the first Monday of each month.  Due to the holiday shutdown of the college in December, December and January are combined into one show.

Benson Hospital

The Arts Council has developed its “Art Around Town” project in order to give our members more venues in which to share and display their work. In getting our art “out there,” we hope to stimulate a greater awareness and appreciation of the visual arts within the community.

“Art Around Town” now includes exhibit and sale of original art and photography in the corridors and patient rooms at Benson Hospital.

I am pleased to announce that we have successfully installed another big collection of art and photography at the Benson Hospital as of July 31st!  As always, the staff at the hospital was delighted to have new works to decorate the facility; and John and Kelley of their maintenance crew worked hard and diligently to place the pieces throughout the rooms, offices, hallways, and treatment areas.  At latest count, 25 member artists supplied more that one hundred works of art in many different media!!  Thanks to everyone who is participating during this rotation!!  We will do a change-out and will be seeking new artwork at the end of January, 2016, so I hope that many more of you will share your work in the NEXT rotation!!

Because this is as much a community service project as it is an art venue, the Arts Council will NOT be charging a commission on work sold.  However, if a “selling artist” wants to give a small donation to the Council after a sale, we would certainly be happy to accept it.
